Description

This is the approach pitch for the Observatory Ledge. It is also a pretty good stand alone sport route with fun moves up an aesthetic arete, one of only a few moderates at this grade at Diablo.

Location

This route is at the far right (west) end of the wall, just before turning the corner to the Grotto. Climbs the arete to a roof, steps out right to pull roof, and then back left and up the arete to two bolt anchors. Continue up another 20 feet on gear to reach Observatory Ledge belay anchors.

This route faces NW and sees full shade until late in the day.

Protection

7 bolts

Added some hardware store steel quick-links and "biners" to the first set of anchors on this route on 05/05/2013.

Thanks for doing that. Cant rememeber why I hadn't equipped this route with chain, but I guess I didn't. Again, thanks.
