Bryan I'm sorry to hear of your accident and I hope you have a speedy recovery. In the mean time enjoy your medication because when that runs out it kind of sucks for a while. Nonetheless, know that you will be at it again and you'll enjoy it all the more.

I recommend picking up something you always wanted to do, but never have. A couple of my misfortunes have given me a love for cooking and the ability to swim. These are things I would not have persued if I hadn't gotten messed up.

Cheers.

It's very American to expect the best possible service for your hard earned dollar.

So some rescuer puts donuts away better than they hike - how is that different than some climber who posts to the internet better than they place gear?

A 2006 photo of me at the top of "Lizards and Scorpions with Blue Sky and Clouds on Tuesday" or some other crazy route name. Nice view from the rim though. Image by Joseffa Meir.

Nobody here is getting paid to place gear. So if the resuers are vol's, there is no difference.

What's up Klahn? Maybe you will get a laugh out of this old story. We bailed off the NA Wall, too hot, too sick, (too scared? no way!) went to Tuolomne, climbed some dome up there, decided to finish the day off with some bouldering. You sent, I shook my way one move from the top, really started to rattle, you laughed, I blacked out from fear, "are you allright up there" was tthe last thing I heard until the sound of my calcaneus hitting the granite floor. I screamed, crawled, ate painpills, we drove back down to the valley, drank, wished we had just stayed on the damn wall, called Autumn in San Francisco, watched my toes dissapear, watched the colors change (of my foot) drank some more, discussed the possibility of a bad bone bruise, bivied illegally, of course, and I got picked up the next morning and split, not driving my truck. Dreams temporarily shattered just like my heel. Well maybe its not that funny, but I know you're laughing right now. Keep laughing, Landshard
