| I was in Moab over May and a bud of mine and I were going to do S. Six Shooter, but the gate to get in was barbwired shut. We got alittle sketched out b/c of the lady at gas station on the outskirts of Canyonlands (something I will never forget). We decided to bypass it, but does anyone know why it was barbwired shut?
Thanks, --Rhett | |

| Climbed the South Six Shooter over Thanksgiving Creekend, The gate that is a couple of miles in was shut, but there was a barbed wire latch over a post, just lift up on it and open the gate, just remember to close it after you have past by it, stay right at the fork, the left goes to lavender canyon drive a little farther till the "Road" really a creek bed ends in a small parking spot directly below the Shooter..............Have fun!!!!!!!!!
PS Avoided the 1st pitch Chimney, Climb the diagonal hand and finger crack to the right of it soooooooooooooo gooooooooooood!!!!!!!!

| I drove in with a non-four wheel vehicle and sort of regret it. It was way too much work for the slow pace. It would have been worth it to park by the road. This might not be the case with a truck, but with a small car I'd just hike the whole way in.
I did the original start to the route, and got on that hand/finger crack after we rapped down. It was so much better than the start in the guide. Also did the OW to thin fingers dihedral to the left. That line was great, but I struggled pretty hard on the top.

| well of course Jordan drove the focus back their cuz he well likes the pull things to the limit. take a high clearance car or a truck. give yourself time to hike out cuz we did it in the dark and almost didn't fined the car. so bring a headlamp. hes right do the dihedral crack but we had a main hold breack off so it's a little harder now ( no harder then 12-). i hold all most hit me in the head too. it was an epic hike out. we didn't see one preson the whole day. | |

| How the hell did you get to Indian Creek from Valdosta? Nice to see someone else from South Georgia get out.
My name is Clay and I'm formerly from Tifton, GA.

| please clarify: did a hold break off of one of the routes on one of the towers? what the hell are you saying? | |

| It's pretty easy to get to North Six Shooter Peak with only a 2WD vehicle, as I describe in my comment. Apparently this approach still works. But South Sixshooter probably requires 4WD or a longer walk. | |

| He was talking about the dihedral to the left of the handcrack, which starts as an off-width and slowly pinches down to tips at the top. There's one ledge on the right, getting into the crux, where a hold broke off. There is still a hold there, it's just not as positive now. It probably isn't significantly harder, and I don't really think it had seen much action anyway, as the hold broke with minimal force. If you're up there, you should definitely get on it. I imagine, with appropriate use of directionals, that you could top-rope it from the rap anchor above and to the right.
