Climbing in Kalymnos, Greece

Soloed while wearing a chewbacca suit and smoking black and milds.

At least that is what I heard.

It was me. I was the soloist in the OP.

Not to take away from the joking but, this will probably happen in the next 10 years.

Whether it's someone just learning how to climb in a gym in Iowa or someone who's already strong, I don't know. I just see the level of the new generation and it's unbelievable.

Reardon probably could have done it. Onsight.

Over on supertopo it is being discussed that Honnold has actually soloed it ropeless.

I'm so glad he spelled it right.

Jeeze and to think the thing was just recently freed for the first time ever. I heard from a reliable source that he did it just shy of 2 hours!!!! Wish I could have seen it.

First freed in 1991 by Peter Croft and Johnny Woodward.

I'm gonna sign up for golf lessons on Monday.

Tony Bubb leading Marlin Alley (11b) on Batman Rock, at Lumpy Ridge, CO.

Seems most of the discussion and datials for this site are at:

For my own part, having climbed the thing and having freed just "here and there" parts of it, I can't imagine soloing it. Even the top pitch just seemed like too much to stomach. It's not bullet-proof stone, ya know.

I think this is one of the best comments on the audacity and impressiveness of the climb. For Mike to feel that way/make that statement says a lot.

God I miss the '80's!!!

Wow! How does one go from my level (nearly shitting yer pants leading 5.7) to free-soloing routes like this? I may take up golf too.

I'm taking orders now.
