I think climbing is now against the rules in Dead Horse Point State Park

Racking too much gear, as usual.

While I was googling to see if climbing is allowed in Dead Horse SP, I found this,

Utah State Parks Rules and Regulations

which seems to indicate that a permit is required for "technical rock climbing" in Utah state parks (see Rule R651-622). I'm not sure what that means, since a permit certainly isn't required in Snow Canyon State Park (which is the only state park I've climbed in).

Thanks Perin, I hadn't thought of that possibility. I don't suppose it's too much different that the backcountry permits necessary to overnight on routes in Zion.

I've always wanted to climb there. Those cliffs are enormous. I've heard they're pretty cool about permitting you. They just don't want anyone up and killing themselves in front of the tourists.
