On the way to the top of Owen's first peak.

(Engineer Mountain near Durango)

In their infinite wisdom, the NPS personnel at Colorado National Monument have decided to close the road along the rim tomorrow (Sept. 29) from 8am to 1pm to celebrate the completion of the new surface on the road.

It took them 2 years to complete the new surface on 23 miles of road and they are celebrating this by closing the road so people can walk on it.

Personally I would not want to draw attention to the fact that it took me 2 years to resurface 23 miles of road but hey, everybody has different standards I guess.

Plan accordingly if you had hoped to climb along this road tomorrow...
