I noticed a route up Chimney Rock in Escalante. Looks like perhaps a bolt ladder? Maybe some free climbing towards the top? No nuts or hangers on most of the bolts.

Anyone done this route? Or can give me some information on it? (Bolt size, rating, etc..)

Thanks!

Rosco, A fine animal.

I have done this route. It is just a bolt ladder with mostly cheap bolts without hangers. I just used wire hangers and wire nuts on the bolts. I don't remember any free climbing at the top, maybe a little, but it is pretty easy if there is any. Good views from the top. It is also closed to climbing for part of the year for nesting raptors. (Tons of bird crap on the summit). I can't remember what months the closures are in effect. I think a few of the bolts have hangers, and there may be a drilled angle or two on it. The route is very mellow, A0.

I did it last week. About 20-25 bolts. 6 or so without hangers. No real free climbing. Great views, fun route! C1.
