| Heading to St. George in mid April for a climb and ride weekend. Anyone recommend good car camping sites for 10 guys? Any comments on Snow Canyon and Crawdad Canyon for camping?
Thanks | |

| Uhm, I think it's pay for camping at both those spots. My recommendation would be to camp west or south of town on the blm open space land. I used to live in cedar city and we would always just day trip it, so i can't really remember the names of all the places around there. | |

| The areas that you suggested are definitely pay sites. I camped in my car near Moes Valley as well as by the Green Valley Gap Areas. I also camped below the Prophesy Wall one night. I thought this was the best place, though a little further outside of town. All areas were free. | |

| Just think about the amount of shit and piss you and your ten friends will produce in one night. Splitting the $10 (or whatever it is) between you and your friends for a campsite in a really cool canyon with toilets and lots of water you can use to sorta bathe your stinky butts wtih... not such a bad deal.
Also, you should buy this: http://www.sharpendbooks.com/cgi-bin/store/agora.cgi?p_id=00>>>>> | |

| There is free camping along the river on the way into Zion Park. I forget the mile marker but it is before Springdale on the right hand side when you are headed towards the park. It is a really large area, but be careful. My buddy got busted by a cop sitting in the bushes. However, it is free, and you can find a sweet spot right against the river which could easily fit 10 people. | |

| yeah man, tenesmus has a good point about your excretions. If you're not interested in pay camping the best bet is to camp down the road from the Upper Sand Cove, now called the Prophecy Wall. Just north of the upper entrance to Snow Canyon and just South of the turn to go to Crawdad Canyon you'll go West on a dirt road. Not far from the turn onto the dirt road you'll see the Prophecy Wall on your left, keep driving down that dirt road. It will drop you down to a small lake with camping spots all around it. All free with fire rings. Keep it clean! The guide book will have a map to the Prophecy Wall; follow it and just head down that dirt road. | |
