Loving every minute!

Hello,

Sorry but this post is not really climbing related, but I thought local climber insight could be useful in this situation.

My wife and I are moving from Arizona to Chattanooga next month. We are considering buying a home in the St. Elmo neighborhood. We are wondering if anyone out there has any feedback concerning the area i.e. crime, friendlyness, etc.

Thanks
David Adkins

Relaxing at the P1 belay of Fruit Loops at Rumbling Bald.

David -- My main contact with Chattanooga is driving through there on the way to and from climbing, so I can't help you with neighborhood beta. What you might do is post your question on the Southeastern Climbers Coalition message board. There's a lot of Chattanooga people on that board.

Good luck finding a place.

St. Elmo is alright. Jerrydactyle has lived there for years. I think he is still trying to sell his ex-house. PM me if you need his contact info...

Just a photo of me after finishing the Great Arch at Stone Mt., N.C. circa 1998.

I used to work remodeling houses in St. Elmo, it's fine for a few blocks, but it gets a little seedy near 37th and Central Ave. Here in Atl., every area is more seedy than just about any area in Chatt.!
If I ever move back to Chatty, I'll live north of the city in Sale Creek or some other small community.

feeling free<br />

I am moving there in the fall and am interested to see where I will end up. My girlfriend is a realtor in the area and could give you some advice if you need. Probably the best advice you could get is from my friend who is a paramedic and a SWAT team member in Chatty. He will tell you the low down on that area for sure.
