Seeing if I could reach the clip

I’m heading to the New River Gorge to visit friends for a few days and would like to boulder while I’m there. I’ve seen some cool photos online from several bouldering areas there, namely Interp and Short Creek. I’ve been told that the Sketches bouldering guidebook is out of print, so if anyone would be willing to provide me with directions to these areas or to point me in the direction of a guidebook that can, it would be much appreciated.

Not trying to rain on your parade but, after spending roughly seven years off and on in the New River area, I came to the conclusion that the bouldering there is way overshadowed by the routes. Hawk's nest was okay and the three or so other areas I went to, whose names I can't remember were just okay also. I would say if you have the New on your mind, rope up. If you have bouldering on your mind, go to NC.

There's been a lot of development in the bouldering scene at the New in the last handful of years. Plus, the lake bed is down now, which is fantastic... and extensive, to say the least. There are terrific boulders along the top of the Regular Meadow. A bunch has been developed way downstream from Hawksnest Dam. And Sarah, Short Creek is top notch.

Short Creek is the rivulet between Beauty Mountain and the up-stream end (heh) of Endless Wall. To get there, follow guidebook directions for Super Mario Boulder. You'll end up walking down a gravel road. The Short-Creek boulders begin just shy of Super Mario on the left. You'll have no trouble seeing the first one from the road. It's maybe 20 yards off the gravel. From there, a network of small trails will lead you on to more and more problems.

Interp, on the other hand, is prolly not worth your time. There's a few good problems, but it's far from extensive. It's not bad if you only have an hour or two to kill.
