| The Southeastern Climbers Coalition needs your help establishing a new approach trail for the Jamestown, AL crag.
As I noted in a post here last month, the existing approach trail (which descends from the top of the cliff) has been closed. The Alabama Power Co. declined to renew the right-of-way for the section of trail that crosses their land. Currently, the only legal access to Jamestown is to rappel in from the point where powerlines cross the road.
The SCC is planning a trail day in the near future to establish an approach trail from below the cliff. This will be a major project, involving chainsaws, a Bobcat and lots of bushwhacking. The SCC could use lots of help on this, so if you're a southern climber, please consider lending a hand.
I'll update this topic when a firm date has been set (the trail day was actually supposed to happen this weekend, but was postponed due to weather). You can also find out more on the SCC website.
