| We tried this thing last Fall, but I'm thinkin we got a late start with planning and everybody had their fall climbing trips pretty much locked in and it kinda fell by the wayside... SO...whatta ya say we start now arguing about it now and see what shakes out for the second half of '09 ??? Anybody???...Joey, Jeff, Sean, John, Birmingham Ben, Jody, MC, Shannon, Wayne, Louis & Laurie...I'm talkin to y'all...Wuzzup ??? | FLAG |

| Stone Mountain may be a nother viable choice if the concensus is agreeable to pure slab climbing...I've never been, but they tell me it's nice.> You suckered me in with that link, I thought it was going to be a video of somebody smearing on that vast sea of granite. I think that Joe Walsh song gets played three times a day every day on the local oldies station. Stone Mountain is great climbing, but not such a good choice for the kind of get-together I think you and Paul have in mind. Unless you camp outside the park, alcohol is out of the question. I'd lean toward 'nooga. I've only done day trips to T-Wall and never really spent the kind of in-depth climbing time there that I'd like to (e.g., the south side; upper tier; etc.). And Sean has never climbed there at all. Plus, the girl at Shuford's knows the right pronunciation for "okra." JL

| Jody, I think we'll let you and MC handle recruitment of the security detail. Y'all are probably more connected and definitely more well armed than the rest of us. Sean can prosecute the offenders...OR...Ben and I will hide the bodies...whichever works better for everyone...;) | FLAG |

| See...this is why I wanted to start early...let's stay focused. (And not on the Epiphany I had leading Joke the Chicken @ Big Green) Where and When are our primary concerns, and we still have several major players yet to chime in. Jeff...? Sean...? (If it please the court...) MC...? Others...? | FLAG |

| I ain't skeered to climb at Big Green, I just don't want to lead any of those routes :) What's the point in having a rope and all that gear if you don't get to use any of it? MC isn't on board with this whole Mtn Project thing. We're not gonna make any progress waiting on him. It's tricky looking real far ahead, what are we thinking, September? If so, I've got a commitment on the 19th and the 27th...how about early September? Woops, I see where Ben was talking October/November, dammit man, that's kinda far off to be making plans, isn't it? | FLAG |
By Paul Barnes From Gainesville, Georgia Jun 23, 2009
| How bout early October ? The reason to try this far in advance is because everybody plans big trips for the Fall...well, almost everybody. I don't think Prentice Cooper will be closed that early for hunting...JL will know. | FLAG |
By Jeff Mekolites From HOTlanta, GA Jun 23, 2009
| I will try to make it up there depending on conflicting dates, etc. Y'all post something up and hopefully I will be able to make it. October is generally road tripping time of the year... | FLAG |

| I was just joking around about Big Green, I don't want an audience when i go there. No one wants to watch a guy shake to death.... But on the real, TN is the kind of place i go for a day trip. if we are going to camp and all that, lets go a little further abroad. My vote would be for Linville Gorge (which i'm heading to on Friday till Sunday for cooler temps) or some where like that. I've never been to Moore's wall or rumbling bald. | FLAG |
By Luke Alford From Atlanta, GA Jun 24, 2009
| My recommendation and preference for this kind of event would be Looking Glass. Tons of car camping (got to have beer for a good long weekend), tons of wilderness camping, tons of different styles of climbing, reasonable hikes, and not too far from Atlanta (I'm selfish like that). Really though, I'm game for anything that keeps Joey away from my front door. That's still just hilarious. :) | FLAG |

Looking glass is a good suggestion. Paul? Ben? this is y'alls' rodeo? could we pull you away from TN? | FLAG |
By Paul Barnes From Gainesville, Georgia Jun 24, 2009
| This ain't my rodeo...and please, PLEASE don't get Ben started trying to plan anything. He'll go where we tell him to. At some point after we've heard from everyone we'll just see which place gets the most interest. As far as NC goes, I've never been to Rumbling Bald...and Sean would likely make a fine events coordinator/tour guide for that venue. There is a certain classic finger crack there that I've been thinking might be good for an 11a trad entrance exam. (Much flailing will likely ensue) Then again...Tits and Beer is on my list as well. I ain't that hard to please...but my preference is definitely steep "plug and chug" crack climbing in the fingers to hands range, with the occassional roof thrown in for good measure. So T-Wall probably gets my vote. I'm goin wherever the concensus sends us though. It'll be a good time if we can pull it off. | FLAG |
By Luke Alford From Atlanta, GA Jun 24, 2009
| Some votes... 1) Looking Glass (pisgah, climbing variety, lots of camping, short approaches, familiarity if it's a short weekend) 2) Linville (only been to shortoff and loved it. want 3 days though for the drive) 3) Twall (my only argument against this is that I don't get out for much multipitch these days and I really like longer routes. otherwise, it's freaking twall, I will always be ok with going there.) 4) Panthertown (only been to LK, very cool place. Just need to get my lead head screwed back on before the trip.) 5) Rumbling Bald (only complaint here is the camping situation, but I haven't been keeping current on it. Has anything changed?) 6) BSF (never been, sounds very cool. want at least 3 days for the drive and exploration.) | FLAG |

| I will simplify my ramblings based on the other responses. 3rd weekend in October is currently fine with me, I also veto the 2nd weekend. 1) LG 2) Twall Also, I don't think I've met a lot of you guys (particularly Ben and Paul). Not sure how, but in any case looking forward to doing so at some point down the road. Joey, got your message, will be coming to the show tonight. | FLAG |

| Third weekend in October will probably be good for me. I was leaning toward T-Wall earlier, but I do like multi-pitch. Plus the camping is far better. So Looking Glass gets my vote. JL | FLAG |

| LG. For some reason want to get back on fat dog. I remember it smelled like piss when we did it and it was a pain in the ass to get down off. But I got to get back and do that route again. I also want to go to RB. I know nothing abt the camping situ tho. Now if its a 3 day trip I wanna go to linville. When is this thing happening and why am i just hearing about it. Ben, wtf? | FLAG |

| Contrary to popular belief I have indeed been to T-wall. I've also sampled the fine lines at Sunset, Fosters, BSF, Star Mountain, Tallulah and Yellow Creek. They are all fun, but I still prefer good ole NC. Pick a place, give me notice and I'll endeavor to show up, with some hootch. Pisgah (Cedar, Johns Rock and Looking Glass) has the best combination of routes for all levels, free camping and no alcohol restrictions. | FLAG |
By Paul Barnes From Gainesville, Georgia Jun 26, 2009
| Had I known it was gonna be this easy, I'd have waited till the last minute like we did last year. BUT, this should leave no excuses for not having enough notice to plan accordingly. Looking Glass...weekend of October 16,17 & 18th seems to be what we're doin. Spread the word and let's make it a good one. | FLAG |

Okay, if Sean is bringing the hootch and can assure me there are peaches in it....I'll stay in NC for a few days. But just for the alcohol......well, and the climbing of course! OH! And will someone bring RRK? Please? I need to laugh. | FLAG |
