I saw this guy down at Hippie Hole on Saturday.

Description

Hippie Hole is a known water hole for the summer. It may be also known because the faker Bear Grilles treked through, and made it seem very "treacherous"... But Jef Whittle found some cliffs out above of the actually hole while Mtn Lion hunting.
The cliffs are made of a mix of schist and quartzite. The routes are all new, and may need a bit of cleaning in some areas. This is just a little area still in the works, but nice to go to to get out of the crowd.

Getting There

From Rapid City head towards Rockerville, take the first left exit to Rockerville. Go til you see S. Rockerville Rd, and take a left. Go through the stop sign, and continue til you come before the 2nd cow grate. Immediately before the 2nd cow grate take a left. This is road #372. Go on this road for 1.5 miles, and then take a right on road #372 again. The road will split and go left 2 more times. Park at the rock cairn, and walk north into the mini canyon.

Jake,
It's great hear about a new area. Looks cool in the photos. The stone appears to possibly be gneiss or even greenstone from what I could see in the photos. I'll trade a you a tour of the Gash in exchange for a tour of the Hole. And it made sense to me the way you posted the rating of a project having confronted the same situation myself.

Thanks Brent,
Gniess sounds about right, but I don't know what the other one is? But either one could be right. What ever it may be it makes for good crimps, and nice sloppey pinches!
But ya I would definantly trade you those tours, I would love to get out there. They just look so sweet!
Thanks for agreeing with me, I just didn't know what to put and had no idea what 4th or 5th meant... So i just put one. Who knows haha.

Caution!!! Rattle snakes were spotted last week by the Two Joints route. If you decide to go here, please be careful and watch your foot placement. I am probably not going to go back til first snow fall. This area is going to be more of a late fall, winter, and early spring area.
