Description

Bone Collector Proper is located in the field through which “Bone Collector” runs, which is west of the logging road. It consists of the fewest number of problems but probably has the best ambience, especially in the fall due to the aspen groves. If you continue hiking past Untranslatable and Jonah’s Redemption, you will find a large amount of rock that can be described as a mini-Rock Maze. This area may contain potential for more problems, although they will tend to be low in size.

Getting There

Take Log Cabin Rd. 1.6 miles (past High Side and Low Side turn) to an old road on your left. It should be marked with a cairn. You can drive a little ways down this road if you choose, but be aware being blocked in by another car. Grab your pad and walk up (or down) this road for 100 yards or so. On your right you’ll see a small cairn and two rows of logs. This will lead to Untranslatable (roof problem) and Jonah’s Redemption. If you look to the left at this cairn you will also see a large orange wall. This is The Surmountable Giant.

One of the best problems here. Start low under roof. Climb crimps and pockets under the roof to gain left edge. Work your way up slopers and over edge of roof at highest point. Can be tricky and requires some power. Super fun. Good landing....[more]   Browse More Classics in SD
