Does anyone know what the conditions are like in south Lake Tahoe with regards to snow? Curious specifically about 80 foot wall, eagle lake, lovers leap, and the phantom spires.

"Curious specifically about 80 foot wall"

Its 10' shorter than usual...

Looks like snow tommorow. Probably south facing stuff would be good by the weekend. Eagle lake probably still will have snow as will the dirt road to the spires.

I was at the spires yesterday, everything I got on was totally dry, no snow on the road up either. Great conditions up there.

90 foot wall is fine as long as you don't catch it right after a storm. I've been there a couple times in the past few weeks and most routes were dry. Some seepage here and there.

Eagle lake cliff looks like it will be a while. I passed near it on Sunday and it looked super wet and there was quite a bit of snow at the base and on the top. Granted it had rained/snowed the day before, so it may already be substantially better. But my instinct is to leave that one be for a while.

Lover's leap looked decent from the highway yesterday, kind of far away to really tell, though.

Hope that helps.

Hi everyone, bumping this for this year - I'm planning to head out this week and go to Phantom Spires and Lover's Leap - is it still pretty snowy? I called the Strawberry Lodge and they said there's still quite a bit of snow on the walkoff for Lover's Leap but I wanted to ask on here if anyone has been recently and what you thought. Thanks!

I think the road to the spires is still closed. Climbed sugar loaf today and that was perfect.

Definitely still snow on top of the Leap, haven't gone out there but I have driven past, kind of expect all the main wall to be wet.

Lover's Leap is out, but I think some area of Hogsback is in if you slog to it. Phantom, Sugarloaf, Pieshop are all in. Road to Phantom wasn't open all the way as of last Saturday.

Haha. Shows what I know! It looked pretty wet and snowy a week ago! Thanks for the update, Petch!

The approach to Mayhem Cove was fine with very minimal snow covered areas but much of the wall was wet due to water runoff. Driving past the Leap yesterday parts appeared to be wet also but plenty of dry areas too. There was also still plenty of snow on the east facing ridge but it's all changing quickly!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
