Description

When you hike up the trail to the Rocks of Sharon, the south face of Big Rock is the first area you arrive at. There is a nice flat area here, and a log at the base you can sit on.

There are currently 3 moderate bolted routes on this face, all climb up to the large ledge about 2/3 of the way to the top of the rock where there are two 2-bolt anchors with chains. To the left of the sport routes is a grungy lichen-covered chimney/crack system that looks like it would be fun if it were cleaned out. The climbs here are a bit more than 25m long.

Just around the corner to the right, on the toe of the buttress is an easy sport climb (5.5?) that goes to a third set of chains on the same ledge.

Getting There

Hike up the trail from Steven's Creek Road. The first rock you come to is this area. The east face is to your right, the west face is to your left.
