This area has a few face routes and a few cracks. Continuing all the way west on the skirt one can access the Upper Tier as well.

Getting There

Park in one of the turn-outs mostly found on the right side of the road and head towards the granite. Takes anywhere from 2-4 minutes depending on the turnout. No real trail per se, then skirt the bottom of the south faces.

Climbing Season

For the Courtright Reservoir area.

Eight Thousand Foot Headrush 5.9 5c 17 VI 17 HVS 5a  CA : Southern Sierra : ... : South Face, Lower Tier
Starts via standing on some decaying tree trunks. Work your way up a short flake to the first bolt and do a highstep mantle to land your feet on top of the flake. The next move involves another, but easier mantle to access the second bolt which protects the upcoming crux. A couple of face moves from here leads one to easier climbing and the rap/lower bolts. Fun and well protected. ...[more]   Browse More Classics in CA
