Access Issue: Rebolting Complete!
Details
CA State Parks officially reopened Big Rock to public access April 28th, 2018. After months of effort 53 anchors and 232 bolts have been upgraded to 1/2" X 2.75" stainless steel Powers 5-piece bolts and rings.
Description
This is a top-rope variation to the two bolted climbs of the southwest face. It avoids the crux of either climb (with itÂ’s own crux low on thin edges and smears) as well as the easy holds, until you reach the patina. Start on the face between the bolts, climbing straight up on very small holds. Once the patina is reached, this climb becomes more or less the same as the climbs on either side, utilizing the same holds, as all the climbs of the southwest face come together. A nice, fairly sustained variation to the bolted routes. Rappel to descend.
