Mason climbs Soap on a Rope

Private property with a public access easement and conservation easement allowing climbing held by the Access Fund. Critical to see current requirements and restrictions. MORE INFO >>>

Description

Classic at the grade for the area.

A ten foot 5.8-5.9 crack leads into a juggy overhanging pumpfest.

Might be 4 stars if holds didn't need to be epoxied on to prevent breaking.

Location

Front and center when you come in. If it's a weekend in season, there's probably someone on it.

Protection

Fixed draws, bottom to top.

Rob Miller, Pete Chasse, and I all climbed this route with a 10-15 pound duct tape ball attached to our harnesses. PANIC AT THE DISCO!
Another Miller, broke a hold above the "basketball" hold and some drama ensued involving glue, holds falling off the rock, and threats of haymakers to the babymaker. Soap, though mega classic, falls apart every few years. Originally rated 12c before a throne fell near the anchors, the route comes closer to 13a these days and it lost some of its former appeal.
The extension, Forced Entryis regarded as one of the best extensions at Jailhouse and at 13c is a tick for any aspiring House climber.

Recent holds have broken causing to be harder than 12d
