| I'm planning on heading up to Snowy Mountain and I'm very excited about this climb. I understand you need a #4 to adequately protect the offwidth at the start, but I've heard that you might want a bigger cam if you aren't comfortable climbing offwidth. Does anybody have an opinion on whether I'm gonna need a #5 (which I'm not sure I can get my hands on)? For reference, I have almost no experience with true offwidth, and got destroyed on the half moon crack on Vertigo (gave up trying to stay inside and had to layback). It seems like most times I encounter "offwidth" in the east, like at the gunks, I am able to lead it using very little actual offwidth technigue. Is Redneck like that? Or am I in for an ass-kicking? Thanks--I really appreciate any insight anyone might share. | FLAG |
