Description Red in beta photo. This is a slab climb up the south face of the Bert Boulder. It is a little thin at the start, but after that it gets easy. It goes right up to the pinnacle of the boulder.
Location You will find this climb on the north face of Bert (directly facing the tunnel) up on the hillside.
Protection Five bolts to a chain and rap bolt anchor.

This route seems a little easier than 5.7. Both brought to you by the letter V and Bert seemed easier except maybe for the first moves. Either brought to you by the letter V and Ernie are harder than 5.5 or slab happy is easier than 5.7.

We actually used this route for a beginner's toprope. I climbed the tree behind the slab to get on top to tie off. When we got bored with Slab Happy we just shimmied to the right and hit Room With a View. The views of the Colorado River are great, the truck noise going in the tunnel not so much.

Lead this route today and couple friends followed it. This route is short and sweet and is a great route to take beginners on who may have a small fear of heights. Maybe 5.6 except for a couple little 5.7 holds.
