Description

Not often climbed area with great quality of routes. You can see this Pinnacle from Moratorium parking lot

Getting There

Park at first pull out on the left after passing Manure Pile buttress entrance (~1.7m from camp 4). I believe this is same parking as for Moratorium and you can see from this parking both : Slab Happy Pinnacle and Moratorium. Walk up hill reaching the tow of Loggerhead Buttress and than skirting the east side of the Buttress about 20 min until granite barrier reached. Walk right along the barrier until you see some passage up can be made. The ducks should be there. Scramble up the passage with some class 4 moves to the base of the Pinnacle . From parking lot it take about 50 min -1 hour with ~1000 feet elevation gain

Amazing quality , very physical route, one of the best at this grade I climbed in the Valley. Route has no bolts at all ( one pin at top of p2)P1. Varied chimney with a lot of possibility of thin, medium and large pro in the corner. Belay just below the first roof.140 feet 5.8 sustain.P2. Double Crack in the roof. The roof consists of two waves. Both climbed mostly as chimneys with many pro possibilities in the cracks. Try to sling pro wisely - otherwise you'll have ugly rope drug in the end of ...[more]   Browse More Classics in CA
