I'm back on Chattanooga and am looking for info on any climbing on signal mountain (where are they, gear beta, etc) where is the climbing and is it on town-owned property? I am familiar with the area as well as many of the trails since I grew up there. eli poss

There is no climbing allowed with in the city limits of Signal Mountain...it's not legal and posting about it on the internet sure doesn't help any chance of ever having it allowed. Delete this post please. Blake Cash

I thought that it was changed to town owned land only. According to the SCC they were able to get it changed to illegal on town of signal mountain property eli poss

Anywhere in the area... Is there any climbing in walden's ridge? And while walden's ridge is technically the name of the mountain, ask any local and they will refer to it as signal mountain. eli poss

Check out Middle Earth! It was bolted by SCC leaders so it must be legit. The trails cut through the private property are easy to follow. Park as per middle creek boulders but head north a bit. You will cross the gas company land cut moving uphill and pick up the trail there. You will see several other property boundary markers along the way, just ignore them and head up, its cool. The majority of climbing is right of the trail intersection when you hit the cliff. It's on someone's private property but this is of no concern as I am certain "conservation" minded people involved with the SCC would have this all worked out prior to the permanent alteration of rock they did not own. Contact the SCC for more info on trespassing and illegal bolting, they are happy to help! Have fun. Bstriker
