Sick New Gym In KC, MO

If you're on your way through KC (or live here and are ready to get strong) do yourself a favor and check out The Cave Bouldering Gym.. I can't say enough good things about this place. Just opened last Friday. It's got semi-high ball problems, a nice huge cave roof, kid's area, a slack line, and the walls aren't textured to focus on precision and footwork (these guys are serious!). The owner is great, many of the materials are recycled and most of the work done by volunteers. The music isn't some crappy radio and the sound is good (some gyms the speaker is right in your face, or so far away the faint impression of music is annoying).

To top it off, it's in a frickin' cave! You park, then walk up to this brick pillar on the side of a hill with an elevator in it, then take it down a few stories and walk through these office/cave hallways. So when you climb, you're like 3 stories underground. Kind of a trip! $11/day pass, $9 for kids. Well worth it and super fun!
