Description 

Shiprock has two of the longest climbs at Pictured Rocks(Somn Somn, Over the Counter), along with Tarzan a popluar first or second lead.


Getting There 

From the Main trail walk past Wild Iowa Wall, past A Wall, The Comic Gallery, and Ice Cave Wall. Follow the high trail. You should come to a formation that that has a gully going up on the left and a trail leading down to the right, this is Shiprock, and the route you see is Tarzan.

Never fear as the trail gets a bit smaller and smaller the farther up river you go. Just stay between the cliffs and the water and you shall be fine. Very nice belay pad for tarzan to let you know that you are there. Also a large vine running up the side of the rock. Vine is not on. Kind of a landmark of sorts. OTC and Somn Somn are just to the right.

There are now nice, cedar steps leading down the hill to Silk Road and Over the Counter. Cedar belays, too. This hillside has been a constant source of erosion. The old RR ties have been removed. Please help this hillside come back into a state of vegetation and stick to the established trail. Thanks and enjoy.
