BLM Managed Lands at Castle Rocks CLOSED TO CLIMBING!! Castle Rocks State Park lands are OPEN TO CLIMBING MORE INFO >>>

Area Description

There are about 4-5 routes here. Most are X-rated. The FA does not have a problem with someone adding bolts to the routes if it is done well. See the climbing ranger about this.

Hike north on Almo Creek Trail. This is the first rock you will see 10' east of the trail. Look for a fence bolted to the south & north ends of the rock. Red markers show the exact boundary, not the fence.

The east side is very near private property. Please close the gate and be respectful of nearby private property.

A brilliant sport route on the overhanging side of the Shark's Fin. A burly move gets you off the ground - and shorter climbers might find this to be the crux. From here clip a few bolts on easier terrain before the crux at mid-level. Several different options exist for this super thin stretch of beautiful patina. Engaging 11+/12- climbing leads you to the chains from there. Bolted by Mike Spaulding a few years back, I finished this project at the 2013 Idaho Mountain Festival. A great route. ...[more]   Browse More Classics in ID
