Description This problem is the boulder's namesake, and one of Baldy's all-time classics. It climbs the gently overhanging black face on the north side of the boulder, requiring tenacity and intricate footwork more than brute strength. Start standing with your left hand high on a good edge and your right hand about waist high on a good edge. High step your right foot and head up. I don't want to give too much away, half the fun of this problem is figuring out the correct sequence. Dave was alone during the first ascent, hence the name, which translates to "Alone with God".

Five stars. Second best problem at Baldy. Settling in at V7. One of my fondest climbing moments was the FA of this. Still love climbing it.

A small comment:The proper name should be 'Seul avec Dieu';(dieux, with an 'x', is 'gods', not 'god') Sincerely,Sam "French Nazi" French.

Where is "Scary Trees" (featured in the video above)?
By Greg Parker Administrator Feb 23, 2013
Hey Chris. Scary Trees is right by Jaba. If you're standing in front of Jaba, look to your right and you'll see an obvious prow about 20 feet up the hill. Scary Trees climbs the right side. Enjoy!
