The Second Buttress has several good climbs: Tough Situation (9+) and Classic Finger Crack (9) are somewhat popular. Pine Tree Route (5) is a great beginner's lead.

Take the climber's access trail to the water pipe, and walk right, past the First Buttress, to the base of the Second Buttress.
You can access Tough Situation
and Classic Finger Crack
from the water pipe by scrambling up a gully to a platform below the summit block. Or you can hike up to the top by taking a path just left of the First Buttress
. Then head right and scramble down between the First
and Second Buttress, and do a 3rd-class traverse over to the start of these routes; see photo. Pine Tree Route
begins just above the water pipe, just left of the gully between the Second and Third Buttress.
The fastest descent from the top is a rappel from the tree atop Pine Tree Route
. The easiest walk-off is down a trail just left of the First Buttress

This route climbs a short distance up the dihedral between the Second and Third Elephant Buttresses a few feet before traversing left into a good crack system. Then, (about halfway up the pitch) the route takes off upwards, then left on multiple easy cracks toward a large pine-tree on a ledge. Good jams, good face-holds, and good feet.
