Hello everyone!

So i just found out that i am going to be in palm springs this weekend, and so i want to go check out the bouldering at the tram.
Unfortunately it will be my first time there, so i wanted to get a good guide book to find my way around.
I was looking for the tram bouldering guide by miramontes, but none of the rei's here in orange county, where i live, have it in stock.
Does anyone know of any other places that might carry the guide in OC, or in Palm Springs? Or does someone know of a different guide that would get me through the weekend? I would order it online but i don't think i would get it in time.
I really appreciate all the help.

climbing on an old dam
They actually carry it in the gift shop at the end of the tram ride (downstairs, same building). probably more expensive but if all else fails it will be there.

i've calling the tram, the gift shop, the ranger station, and other people i get transfered to a couple of times, and gotten the run around, and in the end everyone they send me to tells me that they don't carry any guidebooks....

I thought they had copies at the Tram station? There's a thread on Tram bouldering on supertopo that was started by the author. Shoot him a pm to confirm.

yeah i saw that thread too, which is what prompted me to call them in the first place, but they keep sending me in circles, between th ranger station, and the gift shop.... maybe i'll have better luck calling tomorrow... i would hate to show up on saturday and have them tell me they don't have any.

I would post to that thread and see if someone knows what's up with a guidebook. It appears the OP for that thread has a lot of knowledge of the place.

The OP is the guidebook author.
Edit: Just go and follow the pad people. Even this site has enough info to help you find your basic way around. You don't need a guidebook to climb, only to know what you're climbing.

I agree - there are boulders everywhere. We climbed there in 1997 before a guidebook was even written. You'll have fun with or without one!

They should have some at the downstairs gift store at the Mountain Station, thats the State Park-owned gift store, not the Tram-owned gift stores. I saw a few at Nomad outside of JT a few weeks back, they usually always have them. Finally, the wilderness ranger station (down the concrete path, before the bouldering) has a copy that they let peeps peep at!

I would wing it and check out the gift store like everyone else said at the top of the tram station. Every time I've been there, they have always had a copy or two or three of them

From the pics RTM has posted it looks like it should be no problem finding stuff to climb. Looks fun up there, gotta check it out.

i actually ended up grabbing the last copy that they had up at the state park gift shop on the first floor at the top of the tram... they said that they were waiting for a new order to come in.
Thank you everyone for your help, the climbing out there was fantastic!
Heading up again this weekend :D

Just got back from your gym. Very nice! Seriously a great place...so much better than the other gyms that are around (no offense to anyone else).

I asked Julie a lot of questions, but I have a few more so you're getting a PM.

My other post
