The original summit route ascended, finally, in 1943 after Pablo Fisher and Gustavo Kammerer overcame the final 40-foot slab guarding the summit. Went to the Frey in Dec 2013. There's not a lot to do in town, but I can recommend two restaurants: Alto del Fuego and La Marca, both near Club Andino. Great food at both spots.
