Description
Surprisingly solid sandstone bouldering! Salt Fork State Park has several developed areas and tons more to be developed. The rock is solid and well featured, considerably less crumbly than some other Ohio sandstone areas. Problems range in grade from VB to double digit projects, so there are climbs for all skill levels. Within a relatively short drive from cities like Columbus and Cleveland, Salt Fork offers the Ohio climber an alternative to the longer commutes to places like Coopers, the New, and SW PA.
This area was first developed in the 1990’s by Ray Weber (obviously haha) and redeveloped and shared on Mountain Proj by Dan H. in 2014 who shared the first 3 areas totaling about 35 problems. Since then, it has been visited by many climbers who have put up their own new lines. If you walk into the woods at Salt Fork and wander around, you’re likely to find new untouched rock. There is still a LOT of developing potential here so if that’s your thing, don’t wait till all the best lines are taken!
