Description

Located in northern Tucson, this recreational area charges a fee to park and another to ride the shuttle. Climbing is allowed but not encouraged. The Acropolis, Whipple Wall and Kor Wall are @ 500' tall walls of gneiss. It can be loose in spots and great otherwise. This is a trad area, not a sport climb to be found.

Getting There

From center of town, head north on Swan to Skyline Drive and take that road east to Sabino Canyon Rd. Pay the fee ($7) and ride to your crag.

Colorado Crush is one of the best multi-pitch trad climbs around, with an easy approach to boot. I don't think it gets much traffic, which is a shame. It climbs the tallest part of the Acropolis, the first cliff you come to in Sabino Canyon (the Acropolis really should have its own page).Kerry (per Steiger) says that "the dihedral pitch is excellent, but the rest of the route...is not as good." I say bollocks. The direct start on P1 is...[more]   Browse More Classics in AZ

Get off at stop 8, not 7!, for Kor wall and walk back down the road to the obvious gully that goes all the way up to the wall.
