| I've been to the "big wall" area of Romania. And big they are. The big routes are on Muntii Bucegi. Get yourself to the village of Busteni. Hard to miss the main cliff. You can buy the guide book from any of the newspaper stands in town. I was there ten years ago and it was like the wild west. Really had to be careful. I think things are better. I would hope so. There wasn't a night that someone didn't try to break into our hotel room! There are huts as well, much like the ones in the Alps. There is a lot of sport climbing as days as well. Google the Romanian Alpine Club. Lots of pictures of all the areas in the country. There is a lot, I mean a lot of climbing. The best climbing in Bulgaria is west of Sofia in the RIla mountains. Big granite domes. Lots of huts, campgrounds, and resorts. In the winter this is where the Bulgarians come to ski! Take lots of pictures! | FLAG |
