RMNP glacier gorge conditions??? - need flotation?

hello, I'm headed up to glacier gorge in RMNP tomorrow (sunday) and was curious if anyone knows the conditions. how packed is the trail?, do i need snowshoes? - was planning on going to black lake, so really just staying in the valley the whole time.....

I was up there today for a good day at Loch Vale Gorge. We did a lot of trail breaking on the way in around 8am, but then the trail was reasonably well packed on the way out. Probably still want snowshoes though. I suspect once you get past Mills lake, you'll need them.

did you need floatation?

As of Sunday (1/23) flotation was not needed on the main trails but if you ventured off at all you needed it for sure.

thanks all. i had a blast and absolutely needed them. we did a lot of trail breaking, wicked deep snow up there, it's like its winter or something... not like it is in boulder! come on snow gods bring me snow in town!!!
