My buddy and I are flying in to the Las Vegas Airport Sometime between March 15th and the 17th. We are both under 25, so we don't want to pay out of the ass for a car rental. It would be great if someone could give us a ride out there for $ or if some one would rent us there car for a week.
My name is Justin and you can reach me at 414-614-5256

I will change the persons oil on there car as well as pay them some money for the week. Or if we could bum along with another group of climbers of a couple of days. During the week we will be taking an AMGA class.

The city bus system is fairly good.
Like all muni public trans... don't plan to get anywhere to fast.

I mention it because although the bus system will not help you get around the park,
it can be helpful for getting from town to (or close to) the park.

I have never tried (yet) hitchiking from the end of Charleston out to the park, however I bet if you did it right...
(I often put my mnt bike on the bus's bike rack, and ride from the end of charleston out to the park, it's fun to try to keep up with all the spandex that goes blowing by on skinny wheels)
1. Cardboard sign !
(the pen is mightier than the cam and a magic marker is a hitchhikers best friend)
Nice pack, nice posture and a prominently displayed rope or rack... Some other climbers (many have pick up trucks) would stop and give you a lift. Again ... 'slow boat' but it just may sail under conditions of duress.

If you stay at the campground and climb in the park then the bus will do nothing for you.
However it could be viable transpo method for getting to the city, the climbing store etc...

$1.25 one way or $2.50 all day / anywhere pass
(I do not know the price of a week long pass)

I will probably get flamed for suggesting the short hitch from The Red Rocks casino to the park, but...
If you do you can take delight in the game I play when in just such a situation.
Every full sized pickup, Hummer or Chevy Suburban that goes by with one occupant...
Put another imaginary tick on the score card as you mumble:
"Iraqi children, Iraqi children... Iraqi children"
And know that your fortitude is part of (or at least some individual attempt at) being part of the solution not the problem.

##########

The best way to arrange alternate transpo is doing just as you are.
network, network... network!

You say you are going to be in Vegas to take a AMGA course ?
See if you can get info/contact on other AMGA course students.
network, network... network!

(Ps. don't offer oil changes... offer beer !)

post a note at Desert Rock Sports, or the climbing gym next door

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
