I just accepted a position in Ogden Utah and will be moving there late January. Know little about the area so any input on renting apts/house in Ogden are the surrounding areas would be wonderful! Looking for a one bedroom. Will most likely be looking for some gym partners once I get there as I understand there are a few indoor gyms. Thanks MP !
As far as rentals, Ogden's a funny place. One street can be fine and another "ghetto." However, Utah "ghetto" is the equivalent of some other places' nice areas. So it's hard to give a general idea of where is good vs. not. The farther east you go (closer to the bench), generally it's nicer, but more expensive.
Depending on where you're working, don't rule out things as far south as Layton or Clearfield. That kind of puts you in the sweet spot between Ogden and SLC.
I second what Charlie offered on east Ogden and The Front. You should have no problem finding something within your budget, no matter your budget. Ogden is very affordable! The further east you go, away from Wall Ave as a general rule, the better the trail access and neighborhoods get. I'm sure you will like it!
Yeah, live on the 'East Bench' if you live in Ogden. It's 'above' Harrison. You'll figure it out when you get here.
As Charlie mentioned, don't overlook somewhere like Layton. I live on the bench and I'm 45 minutes away from Northern SLC. The canyons (little and big cottonwood - where you will be climbing a lot) are about an hour. If you lived in Layton, you'd be more south hence you'd be closer.
We have some good climbing with easy access, but it just isn't as good as big and little cottonwood canyons.
Thanks for the input everyone, much appreciated. Been here for a few days and finally moved into a place last night. It's beautiful here and I'm digging all the sunshine!

We'll apologize now for the winter inversions with the associated bad air.
