I just saw on the news there was an accident at Red Rocks this morning. They are saying a climber was killed while at Red Rocks. Since as far as I know, climbing isn't allowed anywhere in Red Rocks, anyone know what was going on?

I was wondering the same thing. Condolences to family and friends.

The article (once you get past the ads) says two men fell (?), one was killed. Can't tell if they were roped. Condolences.

Every time this happens (and sadly, this seems to happen frequently at Red Rocks), the local news calls them climbers. It turns out they were concertgoers on a late night stroll.

“After the (Yonder Mountain String Band) concert they were climbing on those rocks and the first man fell, his friend tried to help him but also fell and then was knocked unconscious,” said West Metro Fire Rescue spokeswoman.

Makes sense now. Seemed odd that 2 guys would go to a show with their climbing shoes and chalk.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
