What types or sets of climbing holds best mimic red river gorges hard routes? I've never been so I don't know the texture or if they tend to be slopers, crimps, pinches, big , small or what.

Any other smaller or more difficult sets?

There are no small holds in the Red.

Then what types are there? What causes a 5.14 to be 5.14? I'm curious and want to train in realistic ways

the worst holds at the red are crimps with a thumb catch and small pockets. The shit on transworld is supposedly all the former and the honeycomb wall stuff is mostly the latter with some open crimps as well. But, for instance, Southern Smoke (original) allegedly has nothing harder than V6 on it. Same with 50 words

I've looked into Transworld, and really like it for my best chance, and 50 words is up on the list as well.

If Mike Anderson's on here, his tips on transworld would probably be pretty useful. I'm not climbing on nearly that level yet so I can't help you there :)

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
