Description Suggest change

Recovery Wall is high quality, South Platte, red granite. The nature of the climbing varies widely from crimpy and balancy to wide chimney. There are about 30 new climbs on this wall with about half of them being 2 pitches. There are also a handful of trad climbs here from 5.5 to 5.11. The wall faces southeast, so it receives morning sun and afternoon shade. The wall also has many large shade trees in front of it.

Recovery Wall is in the falcon closure area and is off limits to climbing from March 1 to July 31.

Getting There Suggest change

Going south down Rampart Range Road, continue past mile marker 13. The mile markers are hard to see, so pay close attention. Take a left on FR 502 about a quarter mile past mile marker 13. At first, the road is in the trees. When the road opens up to a large meadow with a pullout and primitive camping on the right, you will be able to see Recovery Wall in front of you.

The wall has a giant crack in the middle of the wall that arches left and looks like a backwards letter "F". Continue on the dirt road through the meadow back into the trees and in a few hundred feet there will be a primitive campsite on the left with a sign for parking and camping.

Make sure you do not block the entrance to the campsite, I have suffered the redneck, scooter trash consequences from just parking in the area and not blocking the road.

To get to the crag from the campsite, the trail goes northwest from the campsite (there is also a trail that goes almost directly west out of the campsite, it's just steeper). The trail has cairns the whole way. The trail goes up to a cave with a large rock overhang where you meet the lower end of the wall. Head north from here following the wall. It's about a 20 minute hike uphill the whole way.
