Recovering from A2 pulley injury

My A2 pulleys (between second and third knuckle) have been a bit painful to climb on for years, but last January marked the point where I just had to stop because the pain was too much. I couldn't even do a pull-up without shooting pain in my tendons.

Now, I've been climbing for the past month after a 6-month break. My pulleys are in better shape than before, but they're certainly not fully healed yet. I have never been able to really hone my bouldering or sport climbing because I injure my pulleys or shoulders within a couple days every time. Any tips for helping to heal, or better yet, strengthen these?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
