| So my BD Blizzard is on its last legs and I've been looking for a replacement for some time. Seems like there are a few options and I thought I would ask around what people like? I'm looking for one harness for everything, ice, trad, sport, whatever mountains/skiing/glacier travel I do, ect - although the BD Colouir does look nice for slogs/skiing. The BD replacement for the Blizzard looks nice, as does the Xenos - I'm not sure if the Xenos is worth the extra cost though, and the Arcteryx 350a beats both of the BD harnesses on weight/bulk... That said I'm not sure about the durability and have heard that the ArcTeryx harnesses do not carry a bunch of trad gear well. What are people using, what do you recommend? I'm looking for something with 4ish gear loops, clipper slots and a haul loop, and leaning towards the BD replacement for the Blizzard b/c of price - still the arcteryx is tempting, not least b/c it packs down so small - to be honest its nice for packing and nice for going to the gym mid-week cool Any recommendations? | FLAG |

| I have the Arcteryx 350a. I use it for trad rock and ice. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. It racks gear well enough for me. I'm not sure what the complaints might be for it not carrying gear well. My only real complaint about it is that I find it very difficult to work the drop seat. It's not easy to do, even bare handed. Even harder in winter when it's cold. | FLAG |

| Misty Mountain makes great harnesses. Simple, not to heavy or flashy. I have a Turbo and a Cadillac and love 'em both. The intrepid is a newer model designed for all around use... A bit lighter than my Caddy I believe. They do custom jobs as well... Great company to support. www.mistymountain.com | FLAG |

| i love the petzl adjama, sweet harness, i use it for everything, the adjustable leg loops allow for layering, plus it has slots for the ice clippers, as well as awesome designed gear loops that hold a ton of stuff. i've had it for a year and a half and its holding up amazingly, that and its super comfortable, even when hanging on belays... | FLAG |

| be aware that the dead bird 350a drop seat will wear out quickly in chimneys ... ive had to swap it several times due to this it carries trad gear fine, but the haul loop wears out quickly as well | FLAG |

| I second comments on the 350a. Too fiddly for winter for me and the clipper slots ar not well placed. IF BD has fixed the sewing/durability issue with the clipper slots, I can recommend the Xenos very highly. The Wild Country Elite Synchro is also good, has burley clipper slots, and can carry lots of gear, but is on the heavy side. OTOH, I can't see anyone wearing one out in less than a decade. | FLAG |

| +1 for the Arc'teryx option. I'm on my second and used for anything and it's by far superior product to anything else in the bulk/weight category. I'm on my second because, like bearbreeder said, the drop seat wore out. I emailed arc'teryx asking them if it worked with their new-fangled material to stitch new stuff on and they said yes, but also gave me a RA# and said I was welcome to ship it in for a replacement. | FLAG |

| I would second the Misty Cadillac as a great all around harness. It has a huge amount of adjustability and they have always lasted a long time. It might be a bit heavy for someone like Alias though. | FLAG |

| Alias wrote: LOL Actually that is the harness I will be buying as soon as my current one wears out. Light enough for fatman trad (me) but enough features and beefy enough for (shorter) aid routes. Probably a little much for winter use though. I've heard nothing but love for these things from anyone who owns one. You'll never need anything else! We don't have much winter here in nc though... Think that's why they came up with the Intrepid. | FLAG |

| Instead of the 350 get the BD Couloir with the BD Momentum and still have money left over for pot and gas. | FLAG |

| I think that is the plan, but I might wait for a sale or the new spring models in the 350. Not sure what makes the Chaos or Xenos double to price of the Aspect in reality | FLAG |

| I'm pretty partial to my Wild Country Syncro. It's been a good harness. I don't use it for ice or snow, but they make a version with double buckles and it's got a spot to put a carbiner for holding ice screws. The "elite syncro" has 7 gear loops, 6 on the sides and one on the back. The "ziplock" version has 5, 4 one the sides and one on the back. The haul loop is offset to the left side of the harness and the gear loop on the rear is super nifty for tossing on belay devices, cordalette, and other things and keeping them out of the way. | FLAG |
