I'm planning on picking up a some new boots, probably the Scarpa Rebel Pros. Looks like most have sized up from normal. Anyone know how they compare to the Charmoz, Silver Trangos, or Nepal Evo? I wear a 44 in each and was thinking about a 44.5 in the Rebel Pro.

I wear a 41 Nepal or Batura.

I prefer a 40.5 Rebel for very specific reasons. The Rebel climbs technical terrain very well and is more sensitive than my other boots. The fit is very adjustable, too. I want the boot to be more snug and precise than my other boots for climbs that benefit from delicate footwork. For general purpose climbing, I'll wear the heavier, warmer, bigger boots. When the climbing gets hard, I want to wring every bit of performance from the Rebel.

I have Batura 2.0s in a 45.5, Scarpa Jorasses in 45.5 and the Rebels in a 45.5.

I used to have Nepals in 45.5 and the old Baturas in 45.5.

I demoed the Rebels for two days before I bought them. It was nice to climb on them before I made the purchase so i knew i got the right fit. I suggest you try on different sizes then make a decision. Lots of people fit into one size Scarpas but LaSportivas size are too narrow. Another good reason to try on before you buy.

I measure 27.0/9 US Mens/42. For both Scarpa and La Sportiva I've had to size up to 43.

For what it's worth, I love my Rebel Pro. I concur with Dobson: the Rebel Pro is very adjustable, especially in it's separation of ankle/heel hold and toe box.

Enjoy!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
