Rattlers on Fowler trail, Eldo

Just a warning: was walking down Fowler trail (from the top of the Bastille formation) and came across a small rattlesnake in the middle of the path. Had to stop my girlfriend from stepping directly on it. Keep your dogs from poking around too much in areas like this with known snake action, to avoid a bite on the nose. And keep your eyes on the trail when hiking/approaching/etc.--we barely spotted this well-camouflaged snake until right on top of it.

...along those same lines, we saw a black bear up at Cadillac Crag about a week ago. He was a nice bear (scared of us). I guess it's not that common to see those around there tho? I'll think twice about keeping food in my pack when I go up there now.

Another note, my partner and I were at the Terrain Boulders yesterday and we ran into a bear. We didn't have any food, just water, he seemed uninterested with us. We never would have noticed him if we weren't resting.
