In my opinion anyone that enjoys rappelling hasn't done it enough. Anyone else agree?

I'm tired and exhausted after climbing. Hungry, thirsty, etc. Now I have to do a high focus activity. Hopefully the rope doesnt get stuck FML.

People who say things like "Rappelling is fun!" or "I want to go rappelling" are usually n00bs or sport climbers

I agree for the most part it is a royal pain in the ass. Other times it's the most exciting part of the adventure. Or maybe it's the rope swing...http://www.mountainproject.com/v/regular-route/106861093

That rappel and the other rope swing in Moab are a disgrace to climbing and beautiful arches

And yes, I find rappelling to be horrible. I was talking with a buddy the other day -Would you rather do 19 rappels down or hike 19 miles off???

"I've only climbed single pitch"

Enough said. You don't know the horrors of 10 back to back rappels.

Yeah! You should bring more food and water on your single pitch top-rope excursions!
I agree. I hate rappeling. Sometimes rappeling off a waterfall is sweet but those raps are few and far between. Till this day, just thinking about rappeling off the maiden makes my palms sweat.

Really you'd think about hiking 19 miles? If you can walk a mile faster than you can do a single rap then you must either be hauling ass on the hike or really unlucky with stuck ropes.

Joe and Stacy have just completed an epic climb together. At the top, Joe decides to rap the 19 pitches. Stacy chooses to hike 19 miles back to the base.

After 4 hours and 45 minutes, Joe and Stacy arrive--miraculously at the same time--at the base of their climb.

Stacy has averaged 4 miles per hour, traveling 100,320 feet. She has moved 352 feet per minute, about 5.8 feet per second. Well done, Stacy!

Joe is beleaguered. In the same 285 minutes, he has completed 19 200-foot raps, traveling 3,800 feet. He has moved about 13 feet per minute--that's 3 inches per second. Jesus, Joe!

I don't mind rapping from bolts or good trees but involved descents with hard-to-find and sketchy anchors are truly the worst.

I don't mind raps with stable,, easy to reach anchors. I hate free hanging raps.

On multipitch, I hate rappelling right back down the climb. Take Birdland, for example ... The route just suddenly ends, and then you have to rap the route sharing anchors with climbing parties. That sucks. It's easier to lie to myself and think I actually went somewhere when the descent is different.

All rappelling sucks, all the time, as a brit i cant claim to have done 20 back to back rappels, but i can tell you i rappelling into a giant bush of thorns and brambles isn't fun no matter what country your in.

Rappelling multiple raps to get off a route when you are tired is the pits for sure.

Gaar must be super badass. He has "the balls" to lead chossy 5.7 pitches at Red Rocks.

in approach shoes too :-)....just statin the facts of you your previous statement...it doesn't stop there.. the FA took it to the top and walked off. Why does everybody think just because there is a anchor you stop. Keep going it's fun climbing, engaged and challenging

So you admit that the route doesn't just end?

No. I deny it. It is physically impossible to climb higher than pitch 6.

Glad to hear that we avoided that cognitive dissonance!
