| Saw that there was a chance of rain at Red Rock yesterday. Anything come of that? Planning on heading up for the long weekend, looking for a quick wet rock report. Thanks in advance! | FLAG |

| No climbing today for sure. Tomorrow afternoon will be fine, more than likely. This weekend should be fine, but there's a 40% chance of rain on Sunday, so sunday/monday may be a no go, depending. just have to wait and see. | FLAG |

| Good news. Thanks! I saw that rain in the forecast for Sunday. Dumb question, but aside from gyms, is there any climbing to do near vegas if it's raining? It's also supposed to be sorta cold, but I don't mind climbing in the cold, or in rain. | FLAG |

| I will be praying with ya... I'm assuming there is plenty of overhung sport to be done if its wet??? | FLAG |

| Ask a local, but I think even the overhung sport routes are a no-go after rain. | FLAG |

| Anything in RR after a rain will be super soft and likely to break endangering you, your partner and the future of that route. A few options do exist near Las Vegas for climbing after it rains though. Keyhole Canyon has OK granite bouldering and is about 45 minutes southeast of Las Vegas. Lone Mountain is within the city of Las Vegas (Summerlin area) and is limestone sport climbing. Check out the guidebook "Islands in The Sky" (not for Utah, but for Vegas area sport climbing) at Desert Rock Sports. Or, ask those dudes over there for some beta. | FLAG |

| Thanks! Good to know there's some alternatives. | FLAG |

| Yeah, overhanging sport routes are sheltered as it starts raining, but after a rain, they are just as susceptible to holds breaking (i.e. Minstrel's crux hold this year). Lone Mountain, Keyhole Canyon, Joshua Tree, Christmas Tree pass are all fairly close and good to climb post-rain. | FLAG |

| Right on... Appreciate the info. I was also thinking Limestone in St. George. | FLAG |

| Bump for an inquiry about the recent storm system. NOAA indicates that town just got a trace. Did the canyons get hit with any substantial precip? | FLAG |

| Several folks got rained out yesterday during the day, and there's a nasty looking set of clouds currently hovering above the escarpment. I'd say today's a no-go. Friday might be okay if it gets and stays sunny today. NOAA's precip count for town will never be accurate for Red Rock. Check the sticky in the NV forum for the rain gauge at red rock. Anything over .05" or so is enough to keep me off the rock. | FLAG |
