The Pressure Zone is made up of one massive flow of the route Peer Pressure. This is the line to do if you visit Mt. Avalon. The flow is wide and can offer climbing in the 3-4 range. When walking left this area will be obvious.

Getting There

Walk left along the base from the Main Area. Walk left past the Yellow wall. Crash through the woods past some more moderate slabs until it opens up into the Pressure Zone. Approx. 300 yards left of the Main Area.

The Steep ice of Peer Pressure...

Peer Pressure WI3-4  NH : *NH Ice and Alpine Climbing : ... : Pressure Zone
Peer Pressure is the most beautiful ice line at Avalon. The flow is so wide it offers multiple ways to go. Up the center and left side it stays with the book rating of 3, but the ice up the right side of the flow is steep and probably 4. After the steep ice the route continues up more moderate slabs to the trees above. 2 ropes or two raps will be necessary. ...[more]   Browse More Classics in NH
