Private Property issues MORE INFO >>>
The West Bank / Wild West / Secret Crag has been problematic for years due to access concerns. There have been negative encounters with gun-toting landowners who have alleged that the entire mountain is on private property. Typical approaches involve brief crossing of railroad property which appears to be prohibited. Exact demarcation of property boundaries are not always clear. When in doubt, be discrete or polite. Do not park your vehicle near the railroad tracks near Plainview. It is a well-known irritant to Plainview residents.
This information is a public crowdsourcing effort between the Access Fund,
and Mountain Project. You should confirm closures, restrictions, and/or related dates.

Description Powder Finger, probably NOT named for the Australian garage band takes a line of bolts just right of Top-Down Design (just left of the arete of Eldorado Gold). Perform a committing 5.9 standup to reach the first bolt. The crux follows.
Protection 8 bolts, 2 bolt anchor.

| The first clip might be more dangerous and the moves to reach it more difficult for shorter climbers. THe crux will also be harder, as it has the climber splayed out a bit even at a height of 5'10". The top of the roue goes right and then back left- the holds in flaring crack on the left are a little brittle. Clipping the final anchor might also be hard for shorter folks- this was definately outfitted for the tall. |
