Portaledge Help
|
I'm doing my first wall on Thursday and Friday and neither my partner or I know how to set up a ledge. I was wondering if anybody in the Boulder area would be willing to help me out and either let me set one up a few times on the ground or even show me how. It seems that I would be able to figure everything out on the wall but from what I've read, doing it on the ground would really pick things up on the wall. |

I would strongly suggest you set up the brand/type you plan to use if not the exact one you will be using. |

So, you have a portaledge? but have not set it up? I live in Gunbarrel and have a Fish single. Give me a shout and I'll show you how to set it up. |

Thanks for all of the help. I actually found someone to help me set one up. I was planning on renting in zion so I didn't have a ledge to set up. I was going to be driving out to zion wednesday climbing thursday and friday with no chance to really set one up on the ground before hand. Turns out the shop was closed on thursday despite assuring me I could rent a ledge mid-November. |

Greg they all have their problems. The best way is to get a ledge and set it up as many times as you can over and over. I have owned many different brands and hands down the Met. ledge is the easiest that I have used. That being said it is far from the most bomber. Fish ledges are bomb, but I always ended up using a hammer to get the damn thing together, but it lasted for many years of abuse. The A5 is the shit, but again it will have its problems but to me is the most reliable and sturdy ledge out there. After you get the hang of setting it up on the ground then just clip in and try and then you will be fucked all over again. It takes a while but once you get it, it's easy. |
