DescriptionA southwest facing basalt crag above the South Fork of the Snake River, Pointless saw development in the fall of 2011 by Dean and Heather Lords. With help from a few other locals, Dean put up a handful of short, fun routes. During the spring of 2012, Dean and Heather were at it again, quickly establishing about 10 additional lines. Routes at Pointless are remarkably varied. From short, obvious and moderate to long, deceptive and challenging, there is something for everyone. The rock has naturally cleaned up after a season of climbing and will continue to do so. However, the sudden removal of large blocks is still an issue so climbers and particularly belayers, be smart and don't stand in the fall zone. Getting ThereTake the River Road (first right after Heise Rock) and follow it past Stinking Springs and Wolf Flats. Pointless is about a quarter mile past Wolf Flats. Overhung and balancy for the first half. Hidden pockets to pull the roof. Finish on fun finger crack. There is a bolt next to the crack, but it also protects nicely with gear. Bound to be an area classic; this is an excellent route....[more] Browse More Classics in ID
