PLEASE update TO DO list features?

Can we please update the TO DO list features?
With over 75 routes on my list in a scattered order really makes life a bit harder then it needs to be. I would be super happy if I could move items on the list more easily, as some are of more priority and deserve to be at the top of the list within easy viewing capability. This is a stupid process one route one space at a time. it's eating my time up like crazy.

What do you all think? Is this totally out of line?

Is it possible to do a click and drag type setup where one could drag a route/s 75+ spaces at one time? That sure would save me alot of effort with the organization of the to do list.

Thanks! (EDITED FOR CLARIFICATION)

You have got to be kidding me.

This is what I do. Tick the route that I recently climbed in my guidebook. Done.

My bad, no wonder your so confused, I didn't mean tic list....
But rather my To Do list, sorry for the confusion. Is this still that hard to believe?

Why would anyone care about your TO DO list?? Perhaps you should compile a list of routes that inspire you and climb them without advertising it. Are you seriously asking the administrators to re-engineer the code to accommodate your request to 'drag and drop' routes that you want to climb so that someone may view your silly TO DO list??

I still can't believe it.

I don't care if no one ever saw my to do list. the request is simply to make it so ppl might be able to use the feature more easily. The reason I ask is that when climbing season comes around I start looking at the list, but when all the routes are scattered in random order it is not very efficient for me to figure where I want to go and what I want to climb. It makes the list a waste of time IMO if there is no order. I guess I should waste paper and just write the list down, since that would be more time effective.
And just think any time I want to update (cross routes off) or add to the list I can start all over and waste more paper to keep things in a proper organization.

YOU SIR ARE AN A.. ....

This is something that more ppl then just I could benefit from. Further more it has nothing to do with advertising what I want to do (as if that's something that is deemed cool?).

Shane, take a pill, you seem to be a little high strung and hostile here.

Jason, I've wished for this feature for some time. I'm sure many of us use Mountain Project to research prospective routes to climb, right? For instance, when I road trip to Joshua Tree, I like to have a long list of climbs in hand rather than wasting time in the campground thumbing through the guidebooks. So, the capacity to sort the to-dos would be quite helpful I believe and not an unreasonable request.

In the meantime, rather than using the painfully slow method of manually sorting my to-dos, I import them into Excel and use the sort and filter features to put my list in order. That way I have a clear and concise printout for routes to do while I'm in the field.

If that sounds too geeky, then fine. I'm not posting my to-do list to impress anybody. It's simply a way for me to keep organized while browsing through the route database. I feel that it makes me a more efficient climber.

Jeebus, calm down.

I care about this feature too. There are so many routes in certain areas that if I see a comment or a cool photo of a route on this site, I'll add it to my todo list. Next time I'm taking a trip to that area, boom, instant list of climbs I want to hit. Some other features that would be cool:

1. Sort the todo list by areas, grades
2. Partner finder via todo list. See who else has this route on their todo list (especially helpful for obscure alpine suffer-fests)
3. Drag and drop for priority would be nice

Let me ad my name to the list of MP folks who would like to see this change. It's not about anyone else seeing or caring; it's about having a useful tool for ourselves. Mark - great suggestions.

Andy - you reading this? Is this feasible?

Just a few days ago an MP.com user contacted me with an interest to get out and climb. I've never used the "to-do list" before. However, this user directed me to his to see if there were any routes on it that interested me. When I looked through his list I found five or six routes that I had on my mental "to-do list." Hopefully he and I are gonna get a couple (all of them?) done when the weather warms up.

There's my $0.02 regarding the "to-do list."

Awesome, my first bashing on Mountain Project in seven+ years! This reminds me of the good ole' days of climbingboulder.com. I suppose that I deserved those hits, as I take them all with a grain of salt :) Maybe I'm a bit 'Old Fashioned' in my ways, and, certainly don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. We are all entitled to express our ideas and opinions, and, for myself, perhaps I was a bit too harsh.

However, those comments are hilarious as I've never been called an asshole on Mountain Project before. Sometimes it's good to ruffle the feathers, and, as mentioned, I undoubtedly deserved it.

Good luck with reconfiguring the 'to do' list as I know it's going to do wonders for the climbing community. I can't wait to see the changes!

Shane -- the most graceful thing you could do at this point would be to admit there were aspects about the "to-do" list that you hadn't considered before, admit you violated Guideline #1 and apologize to the OP, instead of continuing with the sarcasm.

So what can we do to get the ball rolling on this effort?
I say lets just keep it simple for now, there is a better chance it might actually happen.

Can we change the TO DO list to the GIT 'ER DONE list?

so which administrator would be the one to contact to discuss what this could entail?

I have been wanting this for a long time too. It makes it really easy for me to plan a trip around routes I want to do that I've slowly added to the list.

Another vote for some organizing features on the TO-DO list. Actually once it becomes a bit more functional I'd use it more extensively.

Andy Laakmann and Nick Wilder, the site landlords, implement all changes to the site. This one would probably fall in Andy's lap.

Thanks Ron I really appriciate that. I will drop a line and see what if anything can be done.

I've done drag & drop lists for another site I made, so I'll take a look at doing this. Got a ton of things on my plate though, so it won't happen until April.

That's great to hear, I will be snowboarding into june anyway.
Thanks a ton!
